ALIEN RAIDERS was a a real pleasant surprise.  The DVD box cover art looks like it could be a schlocky made for TV movie.  But ALIEN RAIDERS is a finely acted, well directed little Sci-Fi horror gem set in a supermarket.  The story crosses a couple different genres with good success.

As a supermarket is closing for the night a group of people take over the place.  What appears to be a normal crime hostage situation is spun into an entirely different matter.  I don't think I should say more to spoil it for you.

What I liked the most about ALIEN RAIDERS was the excellent cast and director's focus on the characters.  The movie has some action and some gore FX but that comes secondary to the people who reside in the film.

This cast is absolutely professional and first rate.  I like how the people selected were a real mix of shapes, sizes, looks and race.  Carlos Bernard (24) is fantastic as Aaron Ritter, the leader of the group who over takes the supermarket.  He takes his time with purpose to delivering his dialogue and has a very distinct  way of speaking.

Matthew St. Patrick (SIX FEET UNDER) does a fine job as the understated Cop Seth Steadman.  Doe eyed Courtney Ford comes across as very seasoned and mature as Sterling.  Samantha Streets reminds me of another actress I can't quite place.  She has a real soft quality.

Walt Lloyd does a wonderful job with the cinematography, setting a nice mood and capturing the store location.

After watching the Hidden Terror: The Making of Alien Raiders I learned Director Ben Rock got his start as a special make-up FX artist.  This surprised me as he did a great job of focusing on the actors rather than just effects.  In Blood, Sweat and Fears: The Special Effects of Alien Raiders Director Ben Rock admits if he had more time and money this film would have had twice as much gore because he came up as make-up artist.  In Rock's opinion there is no such thing as too gratuitous gore in a film.  Tap #9 Sterling Explains Alien you get a a real close shot on the doe eyed actress Courtney Ford as she performs a scene which describes her character and her work as a scientist.  Tape #12 Spooky's Job the sleepy eyed character who can look into the person to identify an alien, talks about his special talent.  We get to see the soft faced actress Samantha Streets in WHITNEY CAM: Blog Posts After the Buck Lake Incident.  Also included are Raw Feed movies Trailer Gallery.

I highly endorse and encourage you to see ALIEN RAIDERS.  It has more heart, subtly and better acting that eighty percent of the films out there of it's kind.
