Yesh Music – 2008 | |
|
Easily one of the most memorable CDs I've listened to in 2009. Haunting, stimulating and unforgettable are the words that would best describe A Memory Stream. The piano in "The Slow Wait" has a evocative quality, meaning it will stay with you. The guitar and organ parts mix in real well and the percussive elements bring a spark. The emotional momentum of "The Slow Wait Pt. 1-2" is carried into the third track "Call." Guitars, drums and keyboards all bring energy to "Bump." "Intermission" is a tiny little blend of music that is exactly what the title suggests. "Lights Dim" has a real serious tone and the tenderness of this tune has strong contrast against the previous song. The organ that hangs over "Transcendence" is wonderful as piano, drums and other instruments work underneath the audio space. There is a real driving quality that pushes "Your Hearts Are Read," but this is accomplished with a light touch. Out of all the stellar cuts on this disc "Anything You Synthesize" is probably my favorite. The little clicking percussive sound helps amplify the clean piano & keyboard parts. The guitar and drums help carry this track to the high plateau it reaches. It's fun listening to the percussion shuffle, while the keyboard taps on "We're Hitting Everything." I loved when the big dark gloomy keyboard part that comes in at the three-minute mark. "Starscapes" runs seven minutes and leaves you with a fresh vibrant feeling. The American Dollar has created a stupendous CD that could end up the best CD I've reviewed this year.
