The American Dollar - Ambient One

Yesh Music – 2009

The American Dollar has taken the songs from their albums The Technicolor Sleep and A Memory Stream and re-imagined them in ambient form.  This is a very cool thing as the tracks were already excellent but this gives you a new slant into their musical world.

Putting these tunes in the context of wide open space with lots of room to breath makes you really appreciate what these two guys can do.

I've been playing the CD pretty much non-stop and can't see how it will ever work itself out of my favorites.

The American Dollar constructs their music to have a bunch of instrumental elements that make up each one of their songs.  With Ambient One those elements are paired down, which allows the listener to experience their wonderful compositions in a new way.

Ethereal deepness is captured in a big way in the first tune "Starscapes."  The short little cut "The Lights Dim" has amazing mood in just over a minute and a half, showing these could score films. Easily.

I love the slow purposeful groove of "Anything You Synthesize."  It really gets me going.

The seventh track "Signaling Through The Flames" has to be one of the highlights.  The softness of the keyboard, guitar and church like organ is just amazing.  This song is inspiring and touching and will make you feel great.

I admire that these guys are trying new things even though they don't need to.  That's a sign of two creative artists at work.  Don't stop.

Look The American Dollar up on their myspace site, the LastFM or even their Facebook site.  Whatever you do, find them and get their music.  It's fantastic and will give your life a boost.
