Anthrax - Anthrology

UMe - 2005

By Mike Porciello

Not only did I enjoy unearthing old "Skeletons", as I recalled memories of Headbanger's Ball, but I screamed along with every word! "Anthrology" DVD, is a must have for the definitive Anthrax fan. Not the original lineup, but the lineup most Anthrax fanatics consider to be the best, and personal favorite. Joey Belladonna, Frank Bello, Dan Spitz, Scott Ian, and Charlie Benante prove that they are the most well versed out of the "Big 4" to emerge from the 80's. All 4 of their studio albums ( "Spreading The Disease", "Among The Living", "State Of Euphoria", "Persistence Of Time") are represented on this retrospective gem. This is 80's metal at its finest! Watch the Commentary along with the videos on DVD, to hear the why's, and how's of each particular song. No other band will ever come close to what Anthrax did!

Tracklisting:
Madhouse
Indians
Armed and Dangerous
Among The Living
Caught In A Mosh
I Am The Law
I'm The Man
Who Cares Wins
Belly Of The Beast
Got The Time
In My World

It was great to see this lineup sitting in one room together again, laughing, and just having a good time, while watching the Commentary. Anthrax was the first band of it's kind to reach the masses by not only forcing it down your throat, but also by offering intellect; songs reflecting the plight of the American Indigenous, aid for the homeless, as well as references to various Horror and Science Fiction novels. It's a crying shame that this lineup could not work out their differences, (or their differences with ex Armored Saint vocalist John Bush) and what comes next with Dan Nelson? Let's hope for the best.
