Disturbia
– Music by Geoff Zanelli Lakeshore Records – 2007 | |
|
Acoustic guitar & the clarinets bring softness to "Fishing", which gives the score real warmth and a loving touch. Electric guitar, hard charging bass and drums ignite "Poofoot", a fun tune that brings excitement. The soft fluffy keyboard part in "Voyeurism" brings a dreamy quality. Zanelli doesn't back down from bringing intensity to "Every killer Lives Next Door To Someone." One of the coolest tracks off this score is "I Like To Play" which has the feel of U2's guitar rhythm with a reggae guitar. The speed up - slow down momentum of the tune makes it happy and touching at the same time. We dip back into darkness with "Stealth Ronnie." One of the more nasty tracks with the orchestra crawling along before something bad is going to happen. Atmospheric tenderness is captured in the beginning of "Walking Ashley Home" and then the tune gets bigger with pop music instrumental use, it's quite effective and something I really liked. Huge drum hits bring in "The Club Girl." Strings and orchestra swirl with evil as all movement leads to certain destruction. "Stalking A Killer" is more energetic incorporating the guitar parts used in "I Like To Play" this time with the orchestra echoing the rhythm. Three minutes in Zanelli creates almost a spy feel with the instrumentation bouncing towards finding something out. This is another seven-minute cut so Zanelli has time to develop things. "The Basement Graveyard" is an intense cue with the orchestra whispering around us as we delve deeper into discovering the awful truth within the killer's basement. I enthusiastically endorse you picking up this score for DISTURBIA. It is very listenable, features dark moody moments mixed with fun and will emotionally tickle your ears.
