La La Land Records –

Murphy doesn't concern himself with Mickey Mouse scoring, delivering hit points to everything happening on the screen but rather capturing the emotional feel of each scene. This approach gives his score more depth and substance and allows you to experience the movie much better as a whole. The music for the film runs a wide range from; the dreamy "Opening Titles," to the comfort of "The House," to the joy & excitement of "The Boat House" and the danger of "Getting Stoned." Tension hangs over "The Woods" like a swinging pendulum. I really liked the suspenseful edge of "Candles" which is beautiful as it is dark. Low percussion keeps a pulse beating in "Saving Mari." Murphy makes us experience full blown tension in ""Going To The Guest House." Your heart will beat faster as you anticipate terror every time the music swells. Murphy creates what sounds like a jet engine slowly firing up in "John V Krug." It's nerve-racking and cool at the same time. LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT score is another superb job from a composer who isn't afraid of going against the grain to reach a higher goal. | ||
