Machines of Grace

Winterfall Music – 2009

This band and their debut CD came out of nowhere to blaze a trail of hot rockin' tunes I haven't seen the likes of since the last good Lynch Mob or Tyketto album.

Machines of Grace create fourteen tracks that could easily be compared to Dokken or the above mentioned bands, but this is darker and heavier.

The riff in the first tune "Just A Game" screams George Lynch.  Guitarist Matt Leff plays the riffs with power yet always keeps things melodic and tasty.

Zak Stevens voice is tough and matches the band's aggressive approach in "Psychotic."  Then he eases things down a notch for "Innocence."

I like Chris Rapoza's bass and Jeff Plate's drumming in "Between the lines."  Their playing allows Stevens to sing the story.  "This Time" could easily be played on the radio.

"Breakdown" charges with ripping distorted guitar and thundering drums.  The music intro of "Soul To Fire" is wickedly cool.

Matt Leff's nasty riff in "Bleed" may be my favorite on the album.  Jeff Plate's energetic drums and Vic Stevens voice give this tune weight.  Leff's solo kicks some ass.

The band seems calm in giving us "Better Days."

The last song is an acoustic version of "This Time." A tender way to end a hard rocking gem of an album.
