Edited By William Irwin

Metallica and Philosophy is a great way to look at Metallica's catalog of songs from a philosophical point of view.  These observations are established with real sensibility and the thoughts & ideas will make you think about Metallica what their songs really mean.

The book cruises through many chapters that will keep you rockin' n rolling right through the pages.  There are only a couple chapters that bogged me down with intellectual academics but for the most part this book is a fun read.

Some of the important things all metal fans would want to read about in this book are; did Metallica sell out to become as successful as they did, how the band members relationships influenced the songwriting, the result of Metallica wrestling with Napster and the movie about the band SOME KIND OF MONSTER.  All of this and more is talked about by passionate metal fans who happen to be philosophers.  That's pretty cool if you ask me.

It's not everyday heavy metal, especially a metal band like Metallica gets this kind of treatment.  Check it out and appreciate it for what it's worth.
