Review by Mike Porciello
Oh no!!, something has fallen clear out of
the heavens, to release hell upon this earth. Laugh in fear if you dare!!
Originally started in 1961, by director Bill
Rebane, it died an early death, only to be resurrected in 1965, by
producer Gordon Lewis. This movie could've been extraordinaire, if
the original vision of a serious minded monster
movie was carried out. Once it grabs your attention, it takes a
left turn, and never really recaptures the plotline. Lewis' vision
transformed a psychological/sci-fi thriller, into something different.
Something a little comedic, perhaps.
Ladies, you'll never sunbathe the same way again. Not with a ten
foot tall humanoid on the loose!! So, what you get is one monster
movie, with double vision.
Chalk it up to a misunderstanding, but one you need on your shelf. This is
the kind of movie that slasher flicks are borne from. It's one for
your collection.
What I really liked about Monster A-Go Go is the ability to
almost lose yourself in it. The documentary-like narration has a tone of
seriousness to it, and goes on to explain just what went wrong in the lab.
In 70 minutes from now, you will fall prey to the early 1960's space
race gone wrong. Hmm, I wonder where they got the idea for Frankenstein
Meets The Space Monster from? This movie, is it's evil big brother!!
Inside the DVD and Blu Ray, is a special collector's edition mimi
mag. I got a kick out of the artwork, and reading about what the
actors, actresses, and writers all had to offer, on the making of what
could've been either the sickest or silliest monster movie ever made, had
there not been problems with the making of the movie.
