More Brains! - A Return to the Living Dead: The Definitive Return of the Living Dead Documentary CAV Distributing Corporation - 2011

I guess just about every important crew member and actor is interviewed about their participation on the film. The only notable people missing is the folks who are no longer alive. Somehow they did get a last interview with Dan O'Bannon which was a huge surprise considering he passed away almost two years ago. The story of the production goes back to the beginning. From script to screen we learn how it all went down most people are honest about how they felt about one another. Dan O'Bannon is described as prickly and confrontational and he didn't get along with Clu Gulager. Thom Matthews and James Karen hit it off and their chemistry was real. Linnea Quigley was a little uncomfortable doing her striptease in the graveyard while it rained and Beverly Randolph felt even worse in the wet conditions. We learn how Don Calfa's bleached had his hair blonde and Brian Peck got a real Mohawk to achieve their punk looks.
Special Make-Up Effects artist Tony Gardner talks about making the "Split Dog" he created. Kenny Myers was brought in to create the yellow zombie/man when William Munns' make-up was deemed sloppy and not good enough. Allan Trautman who played the "The Tarman" zombie elaborates on what he did to give his lanky zombie so much life. One of the things that every one pretty much agrees on is that working with O'Bannon was not easy but he did make a film that somehow balanced horror and comedy with success. John (NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD) Russo admits he didn't think this film could possibly turn out as good as it did because of the low budget and difficult elements like special FX and rain. The way you learn all this information is told thru the actual production timeline combining; interviews, still photos both from the movie & behind the scenes, behind the scenes footage, clips from the movie, storyboards, pages from the script and more. If you are a fan of the film you'll love it. If you a horror fan you'll love it. If you are a causal watcher and haven't seen RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD, then go rent or buy the movie and then watch this you'll love it too. CAV has packed this DVD with 2 hours of Bonus Material. They Won't Stay Dead: A Look at Return of the Living Dead Part II is a 20-minute feature on the second film. It's amazing to hear how Director Ken Wiederhorn didn't like the genre and everyone knew it. Everyone was pretty much in agreement that the script was weak and for that reason many of the key people from the first film didn't want to work on Part II. 29-minute A Conversation with Dan O'Bannon The Final Interview is very revealing in that Dan O'Bannon isn't afraid to admit his shortcomings on directing RETURN and the rest of his career for that matter. O'Bannon is brutally honest about not handling all his actors on RETURN the right way but he was learning the skill and didn't the experience to know better. Love Beyond the Grave: A Look at Return of the Living Dead 3 is also because Director Brian Yuzna talks about his approach to directing the movie and the cast and crew talk freely about what they did. Brian Peck ended up the only person to appear in all three RETURN films and said he told Yuzna he'd do it for free. Screenwriter John Penney said he actually wrote the script to be a Shakespearean story of tragic love. There are 14 Deleted Scenes which around approximately 15 minutes. Stacey Q Live! Exclusive "Tonight" Music Video is a cool addition. Resurrected Settings: The Filming Locations Today. You also get the Trailer and Teaser for NEVER SLEEP AGAIN doc.
