Knowledge
is the gateway to infinity. Randomly will a book enter your collection,
and commandeer your eyes and soul, until you read it cover to cover, and
put it down. After reading "Red", I immediately picked it up,
and read it once more. A rocket ride to the stratosphere.
Sammy Hagar, growing up impoverished in Fontana, California, to an
alcoholic ex-boxer father, first began to play guitar in his teens, and
after sneaking into a Rolling Stones concert, soon began to slowly write
his way into the history books. In this novel, you get everything,
and then some, about The Red Rocker's life. You'll read how he
helped launch the beginning of heavy
metal, fronting Montrose; a gritty, and talented pioneering outfit
from southern California, led by ex Van
Morrison guitarist Ronnie Montrose, whose hits "Rock
Candy", and "Bad Motor Scooter" helped put metal on
the map, to his days as The Red
Rocker, to his tumultuous tenure in Van Halen. You'll read
about the everyday workings of business venture, Cabo Wabo Cantina,
to Hagar back to being a solo artist, back to Van Halen, solo artist,
and more. The drugs, the extra marital affairs, the good times, the bad
times, EVERYTHING!! The entire vault of Hagar's life is opened up, and
spilled out. The humbleness to seek spiritual help, the knowledge of past
lives, the ability to broker a deal, and even tips on gardening; ALL told
in layman's terms.
Sammy Hagar, also has the
distinction of always having to be mentioned, and compared to, in
the same breath, as another person. That person? David
Lee Roth. I prefer the Roth
era Van Halen, but there still is no comparison. Sammy Hagar
is the better all around musician, period. In 1985, he rewrote the
book. He joined a down and out, biggest band in the world, took their
unbridled God given talents, and sent them on an unparalleled journey to
stardom. There never has been, and most likely never will be, another
crucial lineup change, (in terms of replacing the lead singer) to go on
and bury the band's past, and become even bigger, at that stage of a
band's career. Not only did they have a new singer, and lyricist, but
also another top notch guitarist in their ranks. They became a more mature
sounding band, and the songs were incredible.
An alien abductee, a savvy entrepreneur, a numerologist, a real
estate mogul, a world class-world renown musician, and now a New
York Times Best Selling Author, Sammy Hagar has seen it all. Red: My
Uncensored Life In Rock is an entertaining joyride, packed with the
greatest of memories, and the wisdom beyond thousands of years. This is a
book that will be deciphered and studied in the future to come.
Never in your life will you be so entertained!!
