Sebastian Bach - Kicking & Screaming

Frontiers Records – 2011

Sebastian
Bach comes out "Kicking & Screaming."  The first track features the former Skid Row front man in his snarly metal mode.  Guitars and other instrumentation help support this rocking tune.

"My Own Worst Enemy" has a nice ebb and flow of speeding up and slowing down.  I like the sound of the guitar at the beginning.  Kind of haunting in a cool way.

The chugging guitar in "TunnelVision" sets up the platform for Bach to go off in all sorts of vocal directions.  The lead guitar work in this tune is superb.

Nasty bass ushers in the wicked guitar riffage for Sebastian Back to "Dance On Your Grave."  The rebellious rocker is ready to fight and desecrate anyone's burial plot.

It sounds like "As Long As I Got The Music" could be autobiographical for any rock star, including Bach.

I was surprised with the mellow cut "I'm Alive."  This is a self reflective tune talking about the tribulations the rock-n-roll lifestyle brings to one's self and their relationships.

"Dirty Power" takes this album back to a rip-rocking groove.  This continues with the guitar in "Live The Life."  The drum beat of the ninth song will get your feet stomping and your head bouncing.  Infectious and rocks hard.

Sebastian Bach seems more relaxed as he sings "Dream Forever."  The song is mixed to let his voice have prominence.  The instrumentation seems less important in this tune and it works.

The guitar gets vicious again in "One Good Reason."  One of the harder edged tunes you will no doubt enjoy.  The guitar finishes off the end of the song with authority!

"Lost In The Light" is a killer track.  Besides the guttural guitar, the drums will pummel you.  The main riff has an Alice In Chains quality.

"Wishin" almost comes across as a pop song, which believe it or not isn't bad.  This is an uplifting song that could easily get radio airplay.

Kicking & Screaming is a record that has something for all metal fans to enjoy.  It rocks hard, has melody and even a couple tender tunes. Recommended for sure.
