Tank - War Machine

Metal Mind Productions – 2010

Tank is a fantastic heavy metal band.  This English HM band writes songs that are heavy metal in the truest sense of the musical term.

"Judgment Day" sounds like the second coming of Saxon.  The duel guitars of Mick Tucker & Cliff Evans rocks hard and I can't help but think of Biff Byford when hearing Doogie White's voice.

The deep distortion from Tucker & Evans guitars help feed "Feast of the Devil."  Dave "Grav" Cavill's drums boom along with the earthshaking bass from Chris Dale.

The way White sings the beginning of "Phoenix Rising" reminded me of Thin Lizzy.

The album title track "War Machine" is a steamroller of a track.  I mean no disrespect to Tank when comparing them to any other band, but this fourth song is similar to Saxon's "The Eagle Has Landed."  It has that cool, highly effective style of softer guitar with lots of musical space between the heavier parts, plus Whites' voice has an echo effect like their fellow countrymen used on the aforementioned song.   Powerful, emotional flammable, this song friggin' ROCKS!

The soft guitar rhythm sets a stage for Doogie White to belt out "After All."  There is a nice little soulful guitar solo in this tune.

"The Last Laugh" has that distinct European heavy metal sound.  This comes form the rapid fire drums and guitars.

The start-stop heavy guitar in "World Without Pity" kicks some butt!  White masters the mic and the drums & bass are wicked.

White sings the story of "My Insanity" to wrap the album.  Tucker & Evans create the electric firepower to back it up.

Consistently strong track-by-track, War Machine is one of the finer heavy metal offerings I've heard the past year.
