The Rite - Music by Alex Heffes Silva Screen Records – 2011 | |
|
The main theme established early in "Going To Rome" reminds me of the main theme from K-PAX. The strings build emotional power in "The Accident" cue. The brass instruments creep into "The First Exorcism" to make their presence felt. Heffes captures suspense and some impact horror moments in "Rosaria Coughs Up The Nails." My favorite cue might be "Angeline's Story" with the dark percussive middle part of the track. It's an ingredient that makes it cool, something I think is special whenever found in a soundtrack. Alex Heffes gets his orchestra and the choir to bring to life "The Terror Is Real." He creates a spinning whirlpool of doom that's highlighted with the human voices. Metal clanging punctuates "Exorcism of Lucas Part 1." The strings and voices together in the track should make your skin crawl. "The Final Exorcism" toils with little melodies skirting about before big drums pound into the cue. The end of the track has an emotional feel that is more light than dark. THE RITE is a very listenable score that will provide some thrills & chills, while always staying in tune with beautiful melody.
