Aeon Flux – Music by Graeme Revell
Varese Sarabande – 2005
From the first track "Bregna 2415" to the last "Aeon Flux," this score has a percussive groove that is sure to get you to move. In some ways this score reminds me at times of UNDERWORLD but AEON FLUX is actually more melodic.

Percussion runs wild in "The Panopticon" while the other orchestral elements bring forth cinematic action thriller elements. There is sadness to "Una Flux" with the instrumentation crying.

The percussive groove of "Torture Garden" is so effective it nearly inspired me to jump up and chase after a criminal or something. Graeme Revell makes this score fun with action.

"Monican Mission" has sort of a bouncing rhythm of keyboards and percussion. "Good Boys" continues this movement before building up to thunderous drums and tiny little keyboard part in between massive drum hits.

Powerful drums strike "The Kiss" before the rest of the quieter ambience of the track. It takes over a minute and a half before "The Relical and Keeper" gets nasty with clanging metallic sounds and keyboards zooming in and out of the mix.

Graeme Revell takes his time to expose "Cloning Discovery." The last two minutes of this five-minute track feature soft piano and subdued orchestration. Then things get crazy in ‘Grenade! /Monorail Chase." Revell creates flickering, spastic keyboard sounds and percussion that work together to create intense chaos.

There is subtle vocalization within the orchestration that builds up "The Cherry Orchard."

Revell pulls out all the stops in "Oren Goodchild Dies."" Drums and percussion pave the way for the sliding electronic elements that materialize and disappear in and out of the track.

Revell eloquently underlies the drama of "Destroying The Memories" with emotional orchestral composition. Believe it or not, the softness with strings, piano and keyboard lines are actually as powerful or even more so than the pounding percussive parts.

Hard rock distortions of either guitar or keyboard with live drums energize the cue "Aeon Flux."

AEON FLUX comes with a booklet of photos and a note from the director Karyn Kusama. This is the first time I’ve seen Varese Sarabande put together anything beyond the regular out/inner CD cover leaflet containing photos within that they strictly used in the past.
