Sheep – Unrated Written & Directed by Jonathan King Starring

BLACK SHEEP is a load of laughs that will have you rolling in your chair or on the floor. It’s vibrantly gory and full of the manic energy seen in the early work of Sam Raimi and Peter Jackson. A sheep-aphobic youngman returns to sell his share of the family farm. But his lifecourse is altered when he finds that his brother has changed the genes of the sheep. All hell breaks loose as the result. I had a great time watching this film. Some of the heavy New Zealand accented dialogue is difficult to understand at first but you get use to it after a while. Peter Jackson’s SFX company Weta Workshop New Zealand provides the hilarious, gore-drenched effects. New Zealand Composer Victoria Kelly creates another excellent genre score to go with THE UGLY, THE IRREFUTABLE TRUTH ABOUT DEMONS and THE LOCALS. Dimension puts together a solid set if extras which include: Deleted Scenes with Optional Commentary, a short Blooper Reel, The making of BLACK SHEEP, Early Morning is a Surprise Scene Shot Exclusively for the DVD. There’s Commentary by Writer/Director Jonathan King & Actor Nathan Meister and the Trailer. I had high expectations after seeing the trailer of this film a few months back. They were met. Seek this one out.
