If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B
Movie Actor By Bruce Campbell LA Weekly Books - 2002 |
|
| This book made me laugh out loud so many times
that I lost count. Bruce Campbell uses his unique delivery of wit, understatement and
creative humor to tell the story of his life. Bruce Campbell came from a family from Michigan, grew up with a bunch of folks who have gone on to work in the movie business (Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, Josh Becker and Scott Spiegel), starred in THE EVIL DEAD series as well as being in television shows like THE ADVENTURES OF BRISCO COUNTY JR., HERCULES: THE LEGENDARY JOURNEY and XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS. Its a cool story about a guy coming up through the ranks who has gone onto to produce and even direct. But with all this in mind, it seems that none of this has gone to his head and inflated it beyond reality. Campbell tells things from a down to earth perspective, always mixed with a touch of humor to give you pleasant idea how difficult it is to succeed in Tinsletown. The book was supposed to have a foreword written by Ivan and Sam Raimi but that didnt exactly happen. The way Editor Barry Neville tells it, its hard to know if what he says happened or not. It could all be a joke concocted by the famously silly Raimi brothers or it could be true? All I can say is, I found it perplexing. If its true, I dont know what to say about the Raimi brothers in regard to this book. But dont read this book for this reason. Bruce Campbell does a groovy job of writing this book and I highly encourage all of you to read it. |
