The Butterfly Effect Music by
Michael Suby La-La Land Records 2004 This dynamic soundtrack begins with the majestic feel of TWISTER then swirls though a multitude of music choices that show young composer Michael Subys compositional dexterity. There is African like drum beats in "Evans Plan / Evan & Mom." Jarring-screeching sounds in "In The Basement / Knife Blackout." Solo flute and clarinet are used throughout to highlight THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT. |

| I was pretty overwhelmed with the outpouring of
emotion captured in "Kayleighs Funeral." Tragedy is defined through
massive strings, which cry in pain. Ethnic percussion mixes with piano for "Sorority Strut." The quick musical changes of "Evan Kills Tommy" keeps you on your listening toes. "Prison Escape" and "Prison" carry real serious dramatic tone. "Stigmata Flashback" brings back the fluttering (almost butterfly like) notes that clearly represent the films title. Suby captures the tug of war love brings in "Evan & Kayleigh / Kayleigh Loves Lenny." Strings are ultra intense in "Blowing Up Kayleigh." Drums and percussion make "Evans Escape" stand out. Suby aims for the mysterious, which equates to the score being suspenseful. But
its also rich with melody hinting that the film thrives around the characters. Suby
gets The Czech Philharmonic Orchestra to play at an incredible level and there is no doubt
that Michael Subys career is well on its way. |
