Creepy Crawls – A Horror Fiend’s Travel Guide
Written by Leon Marcelo

Santa Monica Press – 2006
I love that we are seeing books published on movie locations and there’s a new book that focuses all that is horror, it’s something you guys should be on the lookout for: Creepy Crawls – A Horror Fiend’s Travel Guide.

Anyone who’s been curious about locations were films were made, were horrifying historic events and for anyone who would like to learn were authors like Stephen King, Edgar Allan Poe or HP Lovecraft’s crafted their ghastly tales are in for 380 pages of fulfillment.

Leon Marcelo writing is somewhere between HP Lovecraft and Forry Ackerman. He uses descriptive words like Lovecraft but in the fun way Ackerman use to in Famous Monsters of Film land.

Marcelo and his wife have spanned the globe to write about horrific real life places in London, Paris and gravesites of Hollywood horror stars.

He covers the horror literature haunts of Stephen King in Bangor, Maine; Edgar Allan Poe in Baltimore, Maryland; Washington Irving headless horseman locale in Sleepy Hollow, New York; Massachusetts and Rhode Island the two places that inspired HP Lovecraft.

The cinema is represented by visits to George A. Romero’s Pittsburgh locations; places in and around Austin, Texas used in THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE; southern California’s haunts of HALLOWEEN; Dario Argento’s horror themed store Profondo Russo Shoppe in Rome, Italy; the perversely possessed & puke ridden Washington D.C. Domain of THE EXORCIST; the real life and cinema spots for THE AMITYVILLE HORROR and where Sean S. Cunningham made FRIDAY THE 13TH, Blairstown, New Jersey.

Written with passion for the subject matter but not taken too seriously Creepy Crawls delivers it’s title meaning.
