The Crow The Story Behind The Film Written by Bridget Baiss Titan Books, 2004 |
|
| This is about as close as you are ever going to
get to finding out what happened to Brandon Lee on the set of THE CROW. This book uncovers
the absorbing details that led to the tragic death of the talented charismatic young man
and how the accident should have been avoided. You virtually cannot put the book down as
you want to keep reading until you find out what happened. There is no mistaking the bright future Brandon Lee would have had. He had the amazing background and physicality of being Bruce Lees son. More important than that, his friends tell of how ambitious and driven Brandon was to become a world-class actor and husband. Brandon Lee never got the chance to accomplish either of those goals because of that fateful March 31, 1993 night. To tell you the truth, I didnt actually know what happened to him, all I had heard he was shot. But after reading this book you will definitely know, the answers are very sad and should serve as a wake up call for all those involved with any kind of weaponry on a movie set. Bridget Baiss does a pretty remarkable job of putting together all the facts that tell the story of how THE CROW was made despite the noninvolvement of key people like Director Alex Proyas. What I appreciated the most about learning the story was hearing how humane, determined, humorous and compassionate Brandon Lee was. He knew THE CROW was the film that was going to put him on the map as a movie star and he went all out to make that happen. The amount of physical & mental preparation as well has enduring the cold, wet conditions that existed during THE CROW shoot really put a perspective on just how committed Brandon Lee was to this film. I cant help but completely admire someone with that much dedication and physical endurance. I dont think it should be lost of how this tragedy affected all the others who worked on the film. Obviously Brandons family was crushed but it left a deep scar with everyone involved with the production. I can only imagine how actor Michael Massee feels to this day. The world lost an amazing talent during the making of THE CROW, it would be great to honor Brandon Lees legacy by reading this book. |
