Darkness Falls - Music by Brian Tyler
Varese Sarabande 2003 |
|
| DARKNESS FALLS literally as the "Evil
Rises" from Brian Tylers super aggressive score. Tyler unleashes the orchestra
with unbridled enthusiasm to make this movie come to life with terror. Hearing this the
weekend the film opened last year in full Digital sound, I was nearly blown out of my seat
with the effectiveness of Tylers composition. Tyler must have been really enthusiastic about this film and/or filmmaker. I can tell by the way he takes some chances with his choices. Tyler doesnt play it safe with a standardized score. No, with DARKNESS FALLS he goes for the gusto and nearly rips our hearts out in sheer fright. Yet at other times the score is almost eerie silent. This back and forth swinging between the music volume levels can really rattle the nerves. It makes you feel uneasy and not to comfortable because you never know when the next big hit will fall. This probably puts a big smile on Brian Tylers face. I dont think a lot of people probably pay much attention to what a music composer is doing in a film like this. I would urge all of you to take a listen. Youd be pretty damn surprised to hear what actually has been constructed. The huge bonus is that the themes are so melodic and memorable that even in a monster movie setting, Brian Tyler is creating elegant music that is as good as anything out there. |
