Lennon – Before The So Called

John Galt Entertainment, Inc -2004

Lennon Murphy is young female rocker from the south who has been making a name for her self over the past few years. This DVD covers much of what she’s done with her band over that period; recording an album, touring and dealing with everything that goes with being a young rock star.

We go into the studio with Lennon as she records in different studios across the country. Lennon has a good voice and she’s talented on the piano as well. We also see what her personal life is like hanging out with the band members, her cute little dog and what it’s like to be on the road with her band. It’s here that we see that Lennon is a bit fragile and vulnerable to the same difficulties all of us face. In truth, Lennon Murphy is a curvaceous somewhat delicate spirit who has been scarred by losing her mother when she was 18 then having to battle to adopt her younger sister.

But you’ve got to hand it to this young woman for being able to become a rock star and still keep her sanity. You can certainly see her struggle with it; Lennon ended up leaving Arista Records after realizing that her career would be short term if she didn’t make the music she wants to create. Lennon released her second album and this DVD by herself. I give her a lot of praise for making these bold moves.

The thing I found most interesting about watching this DVD is that I believe you can actually see Lennon longing for something more and I don’t mean music related. She wants her freedom, happiness and is willing to go for it the best way she knows how, but there is something missing in her life. The obvious answer is her mother and family. Lennon’s sadness exudes in her music and by watching this video you can’t help but feel for her. It is courageous letting the world see her vulnerability and I think it would be worth your while to experience this DVD and discover Lennon.
