Lennon - Career Suicide

John Galt Entertainment, Inc. - 2003

The haunting piano Lennon Murphy plays in "Jacob" really helps augment her voice as she sings out in emotional torment. Lennon continues to cry out in "I Hear." She does this is a way the bears her tormented soul onto Compact Disc. The rawness of her voice with only the piano is telling and poignant.

"What You’re Saying" is certainly the story of a difficult relationship Lennon Murphy experienced. The way the song is written can be taken as a lover leaving or a parent abandoning a child.

The pace of the piano is taken up a notch in "Goodbye," which feels a bit like the blues. A failed relationship is again the focus and Lennon’s voice tells the story of what happened. The difference this time is that it is her that is leaving.

Lennon lies emotionally exposed by her voice and piano in "Couldn’t Breathe." You feel for her and can visualize the anguish she writes about.

Things are brighter in "Main Gravel Road" which is exemplified by Lennon’s voice and the tender uplifting piano keys. The song shows the strength that Lennon possesses to be able to move through life even though facing obstacles along the way.

The piano rhythm of "And You" is beautiful and contributes as much to the song as Lennon’s voice. This rhythm will stay with you if you let it.

The bridge and chorus of "Brake Of Your Car" is catchy and probably one of the most memorable tunes that I’ve heard Lennon perform.

Lennon kicks up the dirt of a relationship in "Morning." She plays a harder, more aggressive piano to probe for the answers she needs.

"Asking You" starts out with Lennon’s naked voice, strings are added to trace her voice and bring the track to higher level of emotionality. The vocal effect about 2:20 into the song is real cool. This is followed by echo effect and the piano. These musical layers make the song complete.

Lennon is an artist not afraid to let you see and hear the turmoil she feels inside. She’s courageous and I’m rooting for her to find peace and happiness.
