Poison Live Raw Uncut show review
POISON with Dokken & Sebastain Bach @ Nikon Theater At Jones Beach – Wantagh, NY,
July 30, 2008

I missed most of Sebastian Bach and his band's performance, only catching the last few songs. His guitar player was ripping it out and I thought he looked familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it. It turns out he was Mike "Metal Mike" Chlasciak who use to write for Guitar 2001 Magazine.  Mike's family ended up sitting right in front of me and Paula, so I was able to spend a few minutes catching up with the New Jersey axeman extraordinaire.

It was the first time seeing Dokken live since 1995.  This was a different band with Jon Levin on guitar and Barry Sparks on bass.  I have to admit Jon Levin sounds a hell of a lot like George Lynch, even live.  He has brought much needed energy to the band.  Levin is the most inspired band member since "Mr. Scary" left.

Dokken played a couple tracks from their cool new CD Lightning Strikes Twice but most of their set contained classic tunes such as "Kiss of Death," "Tooth And Nail," "Breaking The Chains," "Into The Fire" and "In My Dreams."  Their set was much better than what I expected.

POISON

It was basically it was just over one year (and a week to be exact) since I last saw Poison play live at the beach. Brett Michaels' and the boys brought their fun-loving attitude and music to give all of us another entertaining evening.

Poison who was in support of their new LIVE RAW UNCUT DVD/CD reached back into their discography to treat us to tracks like "Look What The Cat Dragged In," "Ride The Wind," "Something To Believe In," and of course their staples "Unskinny Bop," "I Want Action," "Fallen Angel," and "Nothing But A Good Time."

Their band had their signature stage show which mixes fire and explosives to punctuate their tunes and give the audience thrills.

The crowd was definitely digging the show as everyone was on their feet, singing and dancing to the tunes.  Especially the ladies.  You wouldn't believe what this band gets women to do once they hit the stage.  I've never seen more high heels, tight skirts and tiny tops squeezing out as much cleavage as possible anywhere else.

Paula and I enjoyed the heck out of seeing the band again and it was a nice night out.  You are certain to get your money's worth when you see a Poison show.  They don't kick back and take for granted that you are there to see them play.  They bring it big time and you better catch them when they hit your town
