Rhino Records are finally giving everyone a chance to view Ratt's music videos that use to only be on VHS. You can play all the videos at onetime, or break it down in sections: Ratt The Video, Detonator Videoaction or Ratt Bonus Videos. There is also bonus Audio Commentary from Stephen Pearcy and Warren DeMartini. Ratt The Video is: Intro, "Wanted Man," Interview, "You Think You're Tough," Interview, "Back For More," They Say You're A Womanizer, "Round And Round", Was Round and Round Hazardous To Your Health?, "Lay It Down" and Invasion of Privacy" End Credits. The cowboy footage for "Wanted Man" was shot in Tuscan, while the concert footage was done in Seattle (which I think might be the infamous show I attended with my friends). "You Think You're Tough" was performed and shot on the biggest stage Ratt had performed on at that time in Long Beach, CA. Ozzy, Jake E. Lee, Tommy Lee & Nikki Sixx, Carmen Appice and Herman Re Speaking of hometown shows, Ratt was right at home when doing the video for "Back For More" at the Roxy. Actress Tawny Kitaen, who was the cover model on Out of the Cellar is doing her thing in a music video which came before her work with Whitesnake. Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee appear in the video as rough neck cops. It was cool seeing Milton Berle reprise his role with the band as the guy who crashes his motorcycle at the end of the video. When the band was in Japan the first time, they received dolls of themselves made by the fans. "Round And Round" features Milton Berle performing multiple characters in his first appearance with the band in video form. I wonder if Warren DeMartini coming down from the floor above through the ceiling was the inspiration for George Lynch bursting through the wall in Dokken's "Dream Warriors" video. I think that's pretty likely since I've read they are good friends. "Lay It Down" has the ultra cool DeMartini riff and is the video that wraps up the Invasion of Your Privacy video Section. Detonator Videoaction includes: Detonator Intro, "Shame Shame Shame," Be Prepared to Detonate, "Lovin' You's A Dirty Job," Little Richard and the band, "I want A Woman," "Making A Mini Movie, "Way Cool Junior" and Wrapping Up." During the Intro we see Little Richard and the band getting ready to shoot and a bunch of behind the scenes footage. "Shame Shame Shame" begins with Warren DeMartini placed on the wing of a World War II Bomber with smoke pumped and blown by fan all around him. Pearcy is the pilot flying the bomber while singing. A hot blonde with curly blonde hair and a red & black dress appears in craft with aircraft gun and she starts shooting at Pearcy in the bomber. She eventually gets shot down and parachutes out of her craft. When she gets in front of Pearcy, he expertly hits his propeller thrust to disrobe her. After this video is over we see more behind the scenes of the video. I have to say it's great seeing Robbin Crosby who says you not only have to be a musician but an actor. Drummer Bobby Blotzer demands that he be able to jump from high above onto a stunt bag. After they let him, it takes a while for him to get up. "Lovin' You's A Dirty Job" has some of the sexiest female imagery of all their video catalog. The busty beauty in the water tank treats us all when she presses her wet attributes up against the glass. The band looks like they had a blast making this video. Little Richard says to Warren DeMartini, "You've got that thing that Jimi Hendrix had with me." Robin Crosby adds to that, "Warren does most of the fancy guitar work while I lay down most of the heavy guitar rhythm stuff. We complement each other as much as possible. Pearcy says that Warren should get credit for the arrangement because he wanted this album to be more blues oriented. "I Want A Woman" intercuts live performance with all sorts of rock-n-roll babes in the audience. It's really great seeing the type and size of crowd that turned out for the band. It's cools seeing Crosby take the first lead and then DeMartini joins him to finish the solo with dual guitars. We get to see all sorts of wonderful female anatomy as the girls practice their routines behind the scenes. "Way Cool Junior" has all sorts of honeys doing their thing in a huge club, while Ratt performs in the tune. This track ends with the indelible image of one of these girls walking away with just a guitar covering her backside. Ratt Bonus Videos were unreleased and include: "You're In Love," "Dance," "Body Talk" and "Slip of the Lip." I'd enthusiastically recommend you getting both this 79-minute DVD and Ratt's Tell The World - The Best of Ratt CD to find out what I'm talking about.
