Stripperella – Season One

Paramount Home Entertainment – 2004

I really got a kick out of this animated series 2-disc box set. I love busty women but I didn’t expect this to be as entertaining as it is. Each episode runs about 22 minutes and I laughed watching each one. This is most definitely not a cartoon for children as this DVD features uncensored nudity and mature subject matter.

Created by Stan Lee (Marvel Comics creator) STRIPPERELLA is an adult animated show that most people would find appealing. Pamela Anderson voices the main character Stripperella, who is a stripper by day, super hero when evil needs to be squashed. Stripperella goes by the name Erotica Jones and works dancing at a gentlemen’s club called Tender Loins.

Stripperella (also known as Agent # 69) works for a defense agency along the lines of James Bond. Erotica is contacted via her vibrating belly ring, and then she quickly changes into her sexy Stripperella costume and zooms off on her supped-up motorbike to get her assignment. The head of the agency is a large man named Chief Stroganoff (voiced by Maurice LaMarche) who is always up so some kind of strange shenanigans before giving Stripperella her assignment.

The tonality of the show aims at sexually charged double meaning with words and images that will have you laughing out loud. The writing is smart and witty. Storylines are designed with real social and economic issues with the villains always representing the evil in such situations. Some of these evildoers perform almost petty crimes but that’s part of the charm. Read the names of each episode (listed below) to get an idea of the witty play of words and how the show takes off on other TV shows and movies like Star Trek and James Bond.

Disc 1: "Crime Doesn’t Pay…Seriously It Doesn’t", "Everybody Loves Pushy", "The Wrath of Klinko", "You Only Like Twice" (my favorite episode, it is hilarious), "Beauty and the Obese Part 1", "Beauty and the Obese Part 2" and "The Bridesmaid."

Disc 2: "Evil Things Come in Small Packages", "Eruption Junction. What’s Your Function?", "The Evil Magicians", "Cheapo By the Dozen or Stop Making Cents", "The Return of the Queen" and "The Curse of the Werebeaver."

The show did attract some name celebrities to add their voices to some of the characters. These include: Mark Hamill, Jon Lovitz and Kathy Griffin.

There are no extra supplements (other than uncensored footage), which makes sense considering the show was canceled.

I didn’t catch this zany show when it first aired on Spike TV back in 2003. I’m thankful for Paramount Home Video giving me the chance now on DVD.
