THE CAVE is somewhat of a guilty pleasure. The story is pretty ordinary, the special effects do not break any new ground and you’ve seen most of the action in other films. But it is a monster movie that does have some excellent underwater photography, cool large subterranean sets, an honest effort from the cast and effective music score by Reinhold Heil & Johnny Klimek.

A group of cave-divers and scientists explore a newly found cave system in Romania. Unfortunately shortly after the dive begins, rocks collapse blocking the exit. Worse than that after exploring further into the cave, the group discovers that deadly creatures start hunting them. The leader of the group Jack (Cole Hauser) starts showing side effects from being attacked by one of the creatures and soon people start getting killed by the creatures. The group must go even further into the cave to find an exit and must battle the creatures to reach it alive.

THE CAVE features two commentary tracks; one by director Bruce Hunt, and the other by writers Michael Steinberg and Tegan West. There is a special effects featurette, and an in-depth making-of documentary.
