The Cave –
Composed by Johnny Klimek and Reinhold Heil
Lakeshore Records – 2005
A fantastic action/horror score from German filmmaker Tom Twyker’s musical partners Johnny Klimek and Reinhold Heil. I guess these guys have traveled to Hollywood to get more work and the cinema will definitely benefit from this move. THE CAVE contains forty (40) tracks that represent the rugged feel of the Carpathian Mountains in Romania, the intensity of cave diving and the ferocious action that comes with the monsters that live in the Cave.

THE CAVE runs nearly 75 minutes and you’ll love listening to the melodic nastiness Klimek and Heil have created. The score is full of adventure with a sweeping, heroic theme that runs throughout the score and highlights tracks; "Cold War Romania," "Carpathian Mountains," "Top And Jack,"

Danger is whispered through soft orchestration in "Cave Under Abbey," "Dig Site," "Briggs Searching," "First Kill," Teeth Marks," "Jack Is Changing," "There’s Something In The Water," "Meet The Creature," "We’re Gonna Die,"

"Team Meeting" has grooving low bass lines with gentle percussion that helps bring the team members together as one. "Team Enters The Water" also has cool low-end rhythmic foundation with strings and high-pitched orchestration surrounding it.

"Over The Edge" has a big wide-open ambience that is very emotional to listen to.

"Shallows" has a deep bottom end that symbolizes the massiveness of large cavernous locale. "Methane Cave" has a real somberness to it.

Full blown compositional intensity is featured in the action tracks; "Collapsing Rocks," "Rapids," "Nicolai Passes On," "Charlie Climbing," "They F—kin’ Fly!," ‘Briggs’ Last Stand," "Tyler’s Mission," "Stalactites," "Saving Catherine," "Kim Is Monstered," "Mean Bastard," "Monster Goes Fishing," "Jack Goes Down" and "You’ve Changed, Baby."

Warmth and friendship is embraced in "Say Goodbye."

THE CAVE has a huge sound always-rooted in melody and would be a soundtrack that you’d listen to more than you would imagine.
