The Punisher Music by Carlo
Siliotto La-La Land Records 2004 |
|
| This is entirely a different approach to a super
hero action film score. Carlo Siliotto brings real classical melody to underscore the
vigilante hero who wears black suit with a big white skull on it. Siliottos composition is more broad based music rather than detailed action scoring. Siliotto doesnt seem concerned about nailing all the little moments but rather giving you the overall emotion as they story plays out. Its deeply moving this way but may disappoint those use to the feeling every hit point. Siliotto who is from Italy does a wonderful job of constructing a score rich with orchestra and highlighted at times by piano. If nothing else, THE PUNISHER probably feels more regal than your basic comic book movie and Siliottos music certainly helps increase the production value of the movie. One of the more unusual techniques Siliotto uses, which is quite a signature for him, is the brass swelling in and out throughout the score. Siliotto joins this brass with cymbals; in a way I dont recall ever hearing quite the same in any film before. There is a ballad by J.C. Loader called "Jealous One" and an operatic track "La Donna E Mobile" which is something most of you have probably heard but dont recognize by name. |
