They Music by Elia Cmiral La-La Land Records 2002 |
|
| Right out of the gate, Elia Cmiral conjures up
wicked sounds in "Billys Nightmare." We get pleasantly assaulted by
orchestra and electronics "In Julias Head." Piano and strings bring
"Sadness." The subtle strings moving about in "Hallucinations In
Shower" are truly intense. The use of brass screaming out in the same repeated note
reminds me of MUTE WITNESS. The high low balance of "Julia Studies" has completeness to it. Cmiral smacks us with his 65 piece orchestral hammer in "Terror In Elevator." I liked the spinning sound found in the sixth cue. The main theme stretches out with ambience in "Aftermath." Metallic strings scrape the fear out of you in "Something Lurks." In the early part of "They Are Coming" Cmiral makes these cool sounding electronic footsteps that softly invoke terror. I really like the deep underside of "Billys Diary." "Back Home" reminded me of the late Michael Kamens beautiful theme in THE DEAD ZONE. Cmiral reuses the creepy electronic footsteps in "Cant Take It." This was the first soundtrack I heard from La-La Land Records and is a solid beginning to what has become a powerhouse label for film score releases. |
