Cliff Bradley - 2003

UNDEAD is kind of an odd soundtrack that may or may not be your cup of tea. Composer Cliff Bradley has created a quirky score that echoes John Williams JAWS at times but is actually quite light and comical. For a movie that’s about flesh eating zombies you would expect something dark and scary but I guess that’s not the tone the Spierig Brothers wanted. For this reason UNDEAD is unique compared to most horror scores.

The main theme of the UNDEAD, "March of the Undead" made me think of something Danny Elfman would create for a cartoon. It’s kind of something light and fluffy that tickles the funny bone. The rest of the score kind of echoes this theme but Cliff Bradley does use a contrasting single electric guitar at times that sets an entirely different mood. The guitar parts grounded the score to more of a dramatic feel. These were actually probably my favorite parts of the score, which brings me back to what I first said.
