Violet Samudra Bliss Beyond Earth Tones Music 2005 |
|
| Meditative, sensual and earthy, Bliss Beyond is
able to create peace. The CD has energy make no mistake, especially in "Picture of a
Purple Sky", "Inward Upward", "Into The Light" and "Beyond
Bliss." "Inward Upward" Steve Bookes guitar, Ray Ippolitos percussion work in conjunction with the other band members to create a uplifting momentum that drives the listening experience to a higher plane of thought. Booke lets his guitar bloom in "Garden of Maya." Ippolito never stops the percussion going which is very impressive and catchy. I got lost in the groove of "Sunrise at the Foot of the Mountain." I felt like I was riding a roller coaster through the Middle East and India while listening to "Khumba Mela." Suman Sridhars vocals give the song a haunting quality. Its hard not to move your body to the eighth tune. Booke makes his guitar dance all over the place. Bookes guitar almost sounds like water droplets during the first part of "Eternal Light." Suman Sridhars voice meshes beautifully with Bookes guitar notes to sing out the songs story. Speaking of stories the band tells a real interesting instrumental tale with "Return To Earth." I like when the beat is kicked up a notch in "Bliss Beyond." The title track of the album is aggressive with attacking guitars, violin or cello and Ippolitos mad percussion. Steve Booke fingers run over the fret board like a man with his hands on fire. |
